Grilled Cheese BLT
The Classic Grilled Cheese and the classic Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich are combined for a whole new flavorful sandwich.
Prep: 10 minutes - Grill: 3 minutes - Serves: 4
INGREDIENTS
- 4 large leaf lettuce leaves
- 4 (1/2-inch-thick) slices large beefsteak tomato
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 slices Italian bread
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 8 slices sharp Cheddar cheese
- 8 slices fully cooked bacon, halved crosswise
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
1. Prepare outdoor grill for direct grilling over medium-high heat. In large bowl, toss lettuce, tomato, vinegar, salt and pepper. Brush 1 side of each bread slice with oil.
2. Place bread slices, oil side down, on hot grill rack; top with cheese, tearing to fit. Cover and cook bread 2 minutes or until cheese softens and grill marks appear; top 4 bread slices with bacon and cook 1 minute or until cheese melts. Transfer to cutting board.
3. Top bacon with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and remaining bread slices, cheese side down; cut in half.
