May 15 is National Chocolate Chip Day!

Everyone loves chocolate chips. They’re used in all of our favorite treats –  cookies,brownies, muffins and many more of our favorite sweet treats. Celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day by making something fun and tasty with your family. Kids love chocolate chips on pancakes arranging them into smiley faces or eating them in their favorite cookies. Most adults enjoy them by the handfuls.

Looking for something to make for chocolate chip day? Try these tasty treats.

Chocolate chip cookie bars –

½ cup Western Family Salted Butter - Melted

2 cups Western Family Flour

½ tsp Salt

½ tsp Baking Soda

½ tsp Baking Powder

¾ cup light brown sugar (packed)

¼ cup Granulated Sugar

2 tsps Vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Melt butter in a skillet and stir often. Continue stirring until the butter begins to foam and starts to look brown. Let cool for 10 minutes.

In a bowl mix flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Mix and set aside.

In a separate bowl mix sugar, brown sugar and the browned butter until fully mixed. Add Vanilla and the eggs.

Slowly add the flour mixture to the mix and mix until combined. Mix in chocolate chips.

Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray and press the dough into the pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Chocolate chip cheese ball

1 8 oz. pkg. Cream Cheese softened

½ cup butter softened

¼ tsp vanilla

1 cup confectioners Sugar

1 tbs brown sugar

1 12 oz. bag mini chocolate chips

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl add cream cheese, butter and vanilla. Mix until fluffy.

Slowly add confectioners sugar and brown sugar. Mix.

Mix in ¾ cups chocolate chips.

Cover and put in fridge for 2 hours.

Scoop mix onto plastic wrap and shape into a ball. Roll in remaining chocolate chips and put on serving dish.

Serve with Graham crackers or fruit.
